About Mary

Life’s Little Instruction Book states: “Take good care of your body; you can never trade it for a newer model.”  This is a motto Mary Mahoney lives and works by.  Mary blends psychology and nutrition in her role as registered dietitian because she has Bachelors degrees in both Dietetics from California State University, Sacramento and Psychology from Santa Clara University.  Mary began her nutrition career as a clinical dietitian, focusing on disease management and nutrition support.  Frustrated by her job’s attention to illness rather than disease prevention, Mary set out on her own with the goal of helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle through improved eating habits and increased physical activity.  In an entrepreneurial spirit, Mary now provides customized nutrition counseling, diet feedback, workshops, and seminars as the nutritionist for Santa Clara University as well as for Silicon Valley high tech businesses and first-rate gyms.  Mary loves working with young adults and is the former dietitian for Evergreen Valley College and Foothill College.  Her areas of interest include young adult nutrition, weight loss, wellness, eating disorders, fitness, and cardiovascular disease.  Mary’s favorite foods include dark chocolate (for the healthy heart benefits, of course!), nuts, and tofu.  In her free time, Mary creates a monthly e-newsletter, entitled Nutrition Nibbles, for her clients to enjoy.
